This brief survey conducted in April 2005 asked school health professionals about the country of origin of their students. The survey was attached to grant and news alerts.
Number of Web site survey participants: 750
Survey period: April 1 – April 30
Question 1: Which state do you reside in? Results from the top 25 states.
Question 2: Do any of your students/patients come from other countries?
For those respondents who answered “yes” to the above question, we asked them to identify the country of origin for their student/patient population. The table below lists the country, number of responses, and percentage. The survey allowed for multiple answers.
|Country||# of sites reporting student-patients from these countries|
|Bosnia & Herzegovina||
|Others: African countries (Ghana, Somalia, Nigeria, Sudan, etc)||
|Other: Dominican Republic||
|Other: Puerto Rico||
1 Other category: Reported the most frequently mentioned countries.
2Though Philippines was listed on the survey, no one selected this country as an answer. This could be due to a database problem.
