February 5, 2002 - NIDA Announces TV Program for Teens on Steroid Abuse A public television special scheduled to air between February 16 and 23
(check local listings for date and time) as part of the teen program
"In the Mix" was developed in cooperation with the National Institute
on Drug Abuse as part of an ongoing campaign to alert health educators,
coaches, parents, and teens to the dangers and misconceptions about
anabolic steroids. "Steroids: The Hard Truth" addresses the growing
use of anabolic steroids by girls as well as boys and features interviews
with teens on sports and self-image and discussions by ex-users and
experts. "In the quest for physical perfection and athletic performance,
America’s young adults increasingly have turned to anabolic steroids,
despite the serious side-effects of these drugs," NIDA said.
