Task Force on Childhood Obesity Invites Public Comment

The Interagency Childhood Obesity Task Force, established by President Barack Obama, is developing an action plan for how federal, state, and local government, in partnership with the private and nonprofit sectors, can collaborate to prevent childhood obesity. The work of the Task Force will complement the efforts of First Lady Michelle Obama as she leads a national public awareness effort to tackle this critical public health issue. The U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Health and Human Services, and Education have posted a Request for Information in the March 16, 2010, Federal Register seeking public comments to assist the Task Force in making recommendations on public and private sector actions that can be taken to address the problem of childhood obesity. Comments may be submitted online via the regulations.gov Web site, or sent by fax or mail to: Director, Office Executive Secretariat, USDA, 1400 Independence Ave., SW., Room 116-A Whitten Bldg., Washington, D.C. 20250. The fax number is (202) 720-7166. To be assured of consideration, written comments must be submitted or postmarked on or before March 26, 2010. All comments will be open to public review.
