The Let’s Move! Cities and Towns Campaign challenges mayors across the country to join the First Lady’s Let’s Move! Campaign to reduce childhood obesity.  The Let’s Move! Cities and Towns component was launched on Friday June 11, 2010 by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s Annual Meeting.  This aspect of the initiative asks cities and towns to make a commitment to the four pillars of the campaign: helping parents make healthy choices, creating healthy schools, providing access to healthy and affordable food, and promoting physical activity.  The importance of the local officials in making these changes, and the unique needs of each city and town, were recognized in a video speech by the first lady.
