According to the U.S. Census Bureau report, Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2007, the nation’s poverty rate remained the same from 2006 to 2007, while the number of people without health insurance declined slightly (from 15.8% to 15.3%).

Nearly One in Five Young Adult Women in US Report Having Experienced Forced Sex
According to a new analysis of data from the 2002 National Survey on Family Growth, 18% of females aged 18-24 reported having involuntary or forced sex at least once. The report, released by Childtrends -- a nonprofit, nonpartisan research center in Washington, DC -- stated that over 50% percent of those reporting forced sex, said the first encounter occurred when they were 16 years or younger.

Toward a Brighter Future: An Essential Agenda for America’s Young People from the National Collaboration for Youth outlines policy recommendations in the areas of early childhood, education, after school and summer programs, child welfare, health, juvenile justice and delinquency prevention, runaway and homeless youth, youth service, and youth employment.
The U.S. Census Bureau has released the report, Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2007. Findings include a 1.3 percent increase in median household income between 2006 and 2007, although the results were not uniform across all groups. Data throughout the report is presented in three sections- income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. Each section provides estimates by characteristics such as race and region.
