New this month from the Center

Farewell to Virginia Robinson, founding editor of the Center’s E-Journal and author of many other Center publications. This month we say goodbye to the founding editor of the E-Journal, Health and Health Care in Schools. Published first in March 2000, the E-Journal has appeared continuously for seven years. I once was given the wise advice, “First of all, be lucky!”  We were extraordinarily lucky that Virginia joined the Center in its first days. Her clear writing and tough standards have made us look good and informed a national audience about children’s and school health. We are grateful.

This month we welcome a new editor, Joel Shurkin. Joel is a journalist, science writer and historian. His illustrious career in journalism and science have been lighted by sharing a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Nine Mile Island nuclear power plant accident and winning an award for writing the best children’s science book in 1979 from the National Association of Science Teachers. We welcome Joel to the Center family. He will tell you more about himself in the March 2008 issue.

Please note that the March issue will appear mid-month as we make this transition.

Two resources for providing mental health services to children of immigrants and refugees are available from the Center. They are available at the links below or e-mail chhcs@gwu.edu to order one free copy of each.
