The Alliance for Health Reform’s recent briefing, Dental Health: Nurturing the Health Care System’s Neglected Stepchild, is now available online as a transcript and webcast. According to the report, while dental health is a vital part of maintaining overall health, many low-income children do not receive adequate dental treatment.
National Institute for Health Care Management Research and Educational Foundation is hosting a webinar, Encouraging Adolescents' Use of Recommended Health Care Services, on Thursday, August 28th. This webinar will explore current health plan efforts to increase adolescent well-child visit rates and provide age-appropriate preventive care to adolescents.

Commonwealth Fund Report Finds Wide Variations Among States in Child Health System Performance
A recent Commonwealth Fund report, U.S. Variations in Child Health System Performance: A State Scorecard found wide variations in state performance when measuring 13 indicators across the 5 categories of access, quality, costs, equity and health outcomes for children’s health systems.

According to a briefing by the Alliance for Health Reform titled Dental Health: Nurturing the Health Care System’s Neglected Stepchild, more than 100 million Americans have no insurance to help cover dental needs. With SCHIP reauthorization on the horizon and the chance that provisions for dental care from last year’s vetoed SCHIP proposal may be revived, oral health issues are front and center.
The National Institute for Health Care Management Research and Educational Foundation’s webinar, Encouraging Adolescents' Use of Recommended Health Care Services, will be held on August 28th. Topics to be covered include ways for health care providers to utilize social marketing, the use of commercial marketing principles to change behavior to benefit society and individuals, and how mobile technology applications, which are commonly used by adolescents, can be used to send health care reminders to adolescents and improve provider-patient communications outside of the medical setting.
