Supreme Court Historic Health Care Ruling
The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools celebrates the historic ruling by the Supreme Court today. We wish to join our voice with the voices of many of our colleagues and partners in the health and public health world who share our optimism for a future of improved access to care for millions in our country.

From Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, President and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: “Today’s ruling by the Supreme Court allows the nation to move forward on the road to better health. The Affordable Care Act, when fully implemented, will expand the number of people with health coverage, introduce strategies for improving the quality of health care, and support plans to make our communities healthier places.”

From Georges C. Benjamin, Executive Director of American Public Health Association: “Today’s historic ruling by the nation’s highest court marks a significant milestone in our national efforts to improve the delivery and financing of health services in the U.S. and to promote health and wellness rather than disease treatment.”

From Michael Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs: “Health insurance coverage, access to quality health care services, and public health promotion and prevention programs for all women, children, and families are vital to assuring a healthy America. The Supreme Court ruling removes much of the uncertainty that many maternal and child health leaders have experienced in implementing certain provisions of the Affordable Care Act, including protections for children and youth with special health care needs, the promotion of essential health benefits, access to medical homes, expanded evidence-based home visiting programs and teen pregnancy prevention programs.”

From Tom Van Coverden, President and CEO National Association of Community Health Centers: "This means that in the years ahead millions of newly insured people, and communities identified as medical shortage areas, will gain access to doctors, nurses and other health care professionals, and the quality, cost-effective primary and preventive services our health centers provide."
