Conference Will Focus on New Infectious Diseases
Extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis is one of a number of emerging new infectious diseases that worry health experts, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States and worldwide bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO). An International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases scheduled to meet in Atlanta in March will discuss such emerging threats such as antimicrobial resistance, avian and novel influenza viruses, global infectious diseases in humans and animals, global warming, and worldwide disparities in health care. Announcing the coming conference today, the CDC said the conference is intended to explore issues in surveillance and the and control of new infectious diseases, both in the United States and abroad, and will describe current research and insights into the prevention and control of new health threats.
