National Gardening Association and The Home Depot -- Youth Garden Grants
The National Gardening Association (NGA) awards Youth Garden Grants to schools and community organizations with child-centered garden programs. Priority will be given to programs that emphasizes one or more of the following elements: 1) educational focus or curricular/program integration; 2) nutrition or plant-to-food connections; 3) environmental awareness/education; 4) entrepreneurship; and 5) social aspects of gardening such as leadership development, team building, community support, or service-learning.
Eligible applicants include schools, youth groups, community centers, camps, clubs, and treatment facilities. Applicants must plan to garden with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18. Five of the winning programs will receive gift cards valued at $1000 and educational materials from NGA; seventy programs will receive a $500 gift card to The Home Depot and educational materials from NGA; and fifty programs will receive a $250 gift card to The Home Depot and educational materials from NGA.
