National Center for Family Literacy – Toyota Family Literacy Program Grant Opportunity

Toyota and the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) established the Toyota Family Literacy Program in 2003 to improve the language and literacy skills of Hispanic and other immigrant families. NCFL is the lead developer of comprehensive family literacy initiatives and offers training and technical assistance to grant recipients for a three-year period.

NCFL seeks applications for a competitive grant award of $600,000 comprised of direct funding and support services to implement the highly successful Toyota Family Literacy Program. Five school districts will be chosen. School districts that: implement the program in three elementary schools providing K-3 education, demonstrate need for family literacy programming to serve an at-risk population of Hispanics or other immigrants, provide a statement of support from the district superintendent, and from either the local mayor or head of city council, and demonstrate capability to deliver family literacy services starting in fall 2009 are encouraged to apply.

Deadline: February 20, 2009

Please Note: The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) does not administer this funding opportunity.
