U.S. Department of Agriculture – Team Nutrition Training
The purpose of the Team Nutrition Training Grant is for State agencies to expand and enhance their training programs that incorporate and implement the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and USDA Foods in meals served under child nutrition programs. States must apply Team Nutrition’s three behavior-focused strategies in application protocols: 1) provide training and technical assistance to child nutrition foodservice professionals, 2) provide fun an interactive nutrition education for children, teachers and parents, and 3) build school and community support for creating healthy school environments that are conducive to healthy eating and physical activity.
Up to $5 million is anticipated for FY2009 for Team Nutrition Training Grants. Selected applicants will be funded for the period of September 30, 2009 – September 30, 2011. Up to $350,000 may be requested per State agency.
Deadline: April 13, 2009 (Intent to submit an application due by March 2, 2009)
