The Street Outreach Program aims to increase young people's safety, well-being, self-sufficiency, and to help them build permanent connections with caring adults with the goal of getting them off the streets. Grantees are required to have an operational structure that utilizes effective practices or evidence-based approaches to adequately address the needs of street youth. Activities should include: contacting runaway, homeless, or street youth; engaging street youth in harm-reduction, responding to the immediate needs of youth in crisis with food, clothing and shelter; offering education, prevention and intervention services; and helping youth exit the street.
Awards up to $200,000 will be available. Eligible entities include: all government level agencies, public housing authorities, Native American tribal governments, faith-based and community organizations, and nonprofits that have or do not have 501(c)(3) status.
