The purpose of the School-Based Comprehensive Oral Health Services (SBCOHS) grant program is to demonstrate the successful integration of comprehensive oral health care into an existing school-based health center (SBHC), focused primarily on early childhood and elementary/middle-school aged children. Applications should include effective ways to strengthen an existing school-based health center's capacity to respond to the oral health needs of young people and increase access to dental health education and services to underserved, high-risk populations, including children and youth enrolled in Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

Awards averaging $200,000 per SBHC will be made available. Eligible entities include state, county and city governments, Native American tribal governments, independent school districts, and nonprofits that have 501(c)(3) status other than institutions of higher education.
