Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools of the Department of Education – Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Grant Program

The Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools provide grants to strengthen school emergency management plans. Programs that work to train school personnel and students on emergency management procedures, that communicate with parents about emergency procedures and that coordinate response efforts with law enforcement, public health and mental health services are encouraged to apply.

Ninety-six Readiness and Emergency Management grants will be administered with an average new award of $100,000 for small districts (1-20 school facilities), $250,000 for medium-sized districts (21-75 school facilities) and $500,000 for large districts (76 or more school facilities).

Deadline: April 3, 2009
