Playful City USA recognizes cities and towns that value the importance of play in promoting healthy lifestyles for children. The purpose of the program is to increase healthy eating and active living by encouraging children to play outside. As a Playful City, the community commits to increasing the awareness of the benefits and availability of play in the community, attracting private sector support, and using KaBOOM! funding to promote play.
Awards vary. Eligible entities include cities or towns in the U.S. and applications require the signature of the Mayor or City Manager.
