U.S. Department of Education – Migrant Education Even Start Family Literacy Program
The purpose of the Migrant Education Even Start Family Literacy Program is to break the cycle of poverty among migrant families through a unified family literacy program which includes integrating early childhood education, adult literacy or adult basic education, and parenting education. Implementation of this program will involve collaborative activities that build on existing community resources to create a new range of education services for migrant families, including promoting the educational achievement of migrant families, assisting migrant children in meeting difficult state content and achievement standards, and using evidence-based instructional programs for overcoming reading problems for both children and adults.
Three grants between $250,000 and $400,000 will be awarded. Eligible organizations include state and local governments, higher education institutions, and nonprofits organizations.
