Improving Service Delivery to Youth in the Child Welfare System

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to develop and evaluate programs that promote the safety and well-being of children, youth and families; and help youth return to safe and appropriate families from which they have been removed. Specifically, the funding focus is on building relationship skills to mitigate risk and to promote protective and resiliency factors in youth who have experienced trauma or abuse. The funded projects will target youth in the child welfare system, or those at risk of entering the child welfare system, including LGBTQ, pregnant and parenting teens, and other youth with significant risk factors.
Four awards of up to $500,000 each are available per budget period (this 60-month funding project is broken up into five 12-month budget periods). Eligible applicants include state, city/township, county governments; public and state controlled institutions of higher education; Native American Tribal governments (Federally-recognized) and Native American Tribal organizations (other than Federally-recognized Tribal governments); nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) status; and private institutions of higher education.
