The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation is recognizing individuals who perform extraordinary work for Louisiana's at-risk children. The purpose of the program is to increase awareness of children's needs throughout Louisiana and to provide much-needed resources to help address them. Since 1995, the program has honored over 1,000-plus nominees.
The Angel Award will recognize eight outstanding volunteers with a $20,000 grant to each honoree's nonprofit charity. The grants are presented at special events in honorees' local communities, and the honorees are celebrated at a special ceremony in the fall. Individuals must be nominated, but a person may be nominated for individual work done as a member of a group.
