Childhood Overweight: What the Research Tells Us Recent research studies as well as publications targeted to front-line child health professionals, parents and educators have focused public attention on the epidemic in childhood overweight in the United States. While studies debate various aspects of the problem, a consensus has emerged that trends in childhood overweight bode poorly for the health status of children now and as they age to maturity.
