March 1, 2007 Following introduction in the U.S. Senate February 14 of a bill to authorize limited federal funding for school-based health centers (SBHCs), the same legislation was introduced in the House of Representatives yesterday by Texas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D). Like the Senate bill, Representative Johnson's proposed legislation would authorize seed money to encourage the development and continued operation of SBHCs around the country. Both the new House bill, H.R. 1244, and the earlier Senate bill, S. 600, can be read and tracked at http://thomas.loc.gov. |
