This video presentation was recorded in April 2009.  In this presentation, Ms. Alker presents information on coverage under the newly authorized Children’s Health Insurance Program- Reauthorization Act (CHIP-RA), the Immigrant Children’s Health Improvement Act (ICHIA), state level response to covering immigrant children and discusses how future health care reform efforts, CHIPRA and ICHIA could effect health care coverage for legal immigrant children in the future. 

Part 1 -  Overview of children’s health insurance coverage nationally; Coverage for immigrant children; Rate of the uninsured by ethnicity; Affect of the 5 year waiting period for coverage; Coverage under Medicaid and CHIP.

Part 2 - Review of public insurance coverage at the state level; Variations in state level coverage; Implications for enrollment in children of parents with mixed immigration status; Policy changes with the passage of CHIP-RA and ICHIA.
